With the days growing colder, ASC's Superstorm Sandy Program health team recently ended its successful summer-long weekly health screening at the outdoor Staten Island Liberian Community Association, SILCA, market. As part of this health outreach, the Sandy team has provided free and confidential health testing, including hepatitis B and hepatitis C testing, and health screenings for blood pressure and blood glucose levels to more than 150 individuals. This brings the total to 312 individuals tested since the beginning of ASC's partnership with New York State through the New York Rising Super Storm Sandy Recovery program in 2014.
In addition to screening events such as the SILCA market, ASC operates an on-site testing center at our office in Harlem as a resource for all New Yorkers seeking free and confidential testing for HIV, hepatitis B & C, sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy, diabetes and blood pressure.
