African Services Committee Mourns the Passing of Henry van Ameringen

African Services Committee mourns the passing of longtime friend and benefactor, Henry van Ameringen. Not as well-known about Henry was his support of Black immigrant and African HIV treatment access. Despite his refusal to allow his name be given to our Health and Community Development Center in Addis Ababa, an over-sized poster of handsome Henry, insisted upon by clinic staff, watched over the crowds who came for testing and treatment. 

This is very devastating news to us all. Henry van Ameringen truly was a generous friend of the poor, the forgotten and the marginalized populations, whose consistent giving brought a positive change in the lives of thousands of people here in New York and in Ethiopia. Henry will truly be missed.
