Orientation Draws More Than 100 African Hair Braiders

African Services Committee, in collaboration with African Communities Together,  Sauti Yetu Center for African Women, Urban Justice Center and NYC Business Solutions held an African Hair Braider orientation on Jan. 27 to a packed NYC Business Solutions conference room.

More than 100 hair braiders turned out to learn about how they can access a variety of services, including: earning a natural hair styling license, the advantages of being licensed, how it could impact their job, workers' rights and referrals to immigration legal services. The popularity of the event underscored an ongoing great desire to acquire more information about licensing and immigration legal services. The orientation marked what will be the first of many related events to come.
