Mr. Bekele is the Director of Health Programs at African Services and is responsible for supervision and oversight of health programs, program monitoring and evaluation, and information management systems. He has been closely involved in developing and managing African Services’ HIV prevention and testing programs in Ethiopia and is part of African Services’ technical assistance team. Mulusew previously worked as a research assistant with the Hunter College Center on AIDS, Drugs and Community Health specializing in field research and evaluation of community-based programs. He has a Masters in Public Health from Hunter College and as part of his graduate work, he developed and implemented an HIV/AIDS knowledge, attitude and practice survey among Ethiopian immigrants living in New York City. He holds a BS in community health education from Hunter College and a BA in biology from Addis Ababa University. Originally from Ethiopia, Mulusew speaks Amharic, in addition to English.
